The Medieval Experience
in Olde Hansa
A feast is a dinner in medieval traditions with an abundant choice of food and unlimited amount of delicacies – you will be served as much food as you wish. A feast begins with the hand-washing ritual, then the guests are guided to the table covered with appetizers. Before eating, the master of the table is chosen amongst the company, who breaks bread, giving cues for others that the feast has begun. The servants introduce all the dishes set out on the table. The main dishes are also served on platters and bowls so that they can be shared with each other. This creates a lighter atmosphere for freer communication. A dessert is served at the end of the feast.
Medieval feasts to bigger parties
The feast lasts at least two hours – a good memory for a long time.
Grand Guild Celebration
Grand Guild Celebration
The most memorable event in Olde Hansa is the Great Guild Celebration. This is an opportunity to experience the grandest festivity of the city as it was 700 years ago. A rich feast, medieval troubadours, a herald, a festive procession through the old town and a magical illusion dish are all that a grand celebration needs.
The experience begins away from the walls of the Olde Hansa, so that the herald, troubadours and flag bearers can lead the guests into the house in a magnificent procession. After the welcome drink, it is possible to enter the house from the side door and reach the dining hall via an authentic medieval spiral staircase.
During the evening, the herald introduces the customs of the time, organizes games and keeps the mood up. In addition, troubadours perform fun pieces of music.
The dishes of the feast are brought to the table and shared brotherly among themselves. If something seems particularly appetizing, more of it will be brought on request, so it’s smart to arrive at the party hungry. The crown of the evening is an illusion-dish brought to the hall between two men.

St Olav’s Guild Celebration
St Olav’s Guild Celebration
The St. Olav’s guild celebration can be considered the younger brother of the Grand Guild Celebration. However, the St. Olav’s guild celebration is just as spectacular and decorated with medieval traditions.
The herald with the troubadours greets the guests in front of the house and offers a welcome drink. It is also possible for guests to enter the house via a spiral staircase.
Herald introduces the guests to medieval traditions, feast dishes, legends of our house and does everything to make the guests feel completely taken care of. Troubadours also perform.
The feast is still shared brotherly with each other, and like the Grand Guild Celebration it is smart to come to the party on an empty stomach. The evening is crowned by an illusion dish carried into the hall between two men.
– Cost of the program 750€
– Group size 2-20 guests
– Duration 2h
– Plus the price of selected meal
